What actually fits in sixty seconds
A 1 minute timer is too short to finish a document and long enough for one precise action. In the kitchen it is the scale of a quick blanch once the water is already boiling: you taste, you do not recite a universal time, but the minute keeps the pot from being forgotten. For pour-over coffee, the bloom is often closer to 30 or 45 seconds. One minute is a ceiling, not a target you must fill.
For exercise, one minute is a plank many people can hold, or a rest between short efforts. If your form breaks before the end, stop and note the real time with the stopwatch next time. Do not cheat the posture to survive the minute. In a classroom or a meeting, a minute of silence is easier to keep when the dial is visible than when everyone watches a second hand.
How to use this page
The dial opens at 01:00. Space or Start begins the count. You can still change the seconds before you start if you want 45 or 90, but this address stays the full minute. The alarm is short. In a loud room, keep the tab visible: a minute disappears while you hunt for the volume button.
For two minutes, which is the brushing length dentists usually cite, open the 2 minute timer. For an odd length such as 1:30, use the online timer and type it. Do not chain ten separate minutes when you wanted ten. That is the 10 minute timer.
- Blanch only after the water is already boiling.
- Plank: stop if your back sags, even before zero.
- Coffee bloom: many recipes want less than a full minute.
- A minute of quiet works better on a large screen than in your head.
A minute is not a small hour
People underestimate a minute when they stare at it, and overestimate it when they have to stay still. Showing it large fixes both. This is not a metronome and not a countdown to a date. Sixty seconds, one decision, then you move on. Nothing is saved. Reload and the page is a minute again.
